Isn't it annoying when your favorite $200 dark blues start to fade. Well French design house Atelier LaDurance has some tips to help you out. They suggest adding 250 grams of salt and half a cup of vinegar to the washing detergent per garment. This they say, helps protect dark and light colors. They also recommend washing less frequently, about 2 months at a time.
Their expert tips page has advice from patrons of their denim who have contributed their own washing strategies including cleaning out of necessity, a sea bath, and more.
